Fiesta Tecaliso

Fiesta Tecaliso is a celebration dedicated to Mexican and Hispanic Heritage music, organized by the United States-Mexico Cultural and Educational Foundation (USMCEF). The event aims to bridge cultural gaps and celebrate Hispanic culture in North Texas.

Fiesta Tecaliso is proud to present the best Mariachis in the world as and Grammy Award winning singers as guests artists, playing alongside the Irving Symphony Orchestra.

  • Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán was created in 1897, and is considered the best Mariachi in Mexico. In the decades that followed, it became the quintessential mariachi. It has made numerous recordings and appeared in more than 200 films. The music that they play now ranges from traditional songs to classical works, as well as potpourris that continue to delight audiences around the world. Mariachi Vargas has also been an active supporter in promoting the formation of Mariachi bands in the United States, as well as other countries, such as Colombia and Venezuela.
  • Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán Over the course of six decades, Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán has risen to the top of the mariachi world, frequently performing for the most prestigious events and with the greatest singers and symphony orchestras. The group was originally founded in Guadalajara in 1965 by brothers José “Pepe” Martínez (1941-2016) and Fernando Martínez (1946-1998). Today’s fifteen-member ensemble is made up of highly accomplished musicians and vocalists who perform traditional rancheras, sones, huapangos, boleros and classically influenced favorites that represent the Martínez family tradition.
  • Mariachi Los Camperos, an esteemed mariachi group founded by Nati Cano in 1961 in Los Angeles, California. The group has earned two Grammy Awards and is renowned for its refined performances and contributions to the global recognition of mariachi music. They offer unique interpretations of both Mexican and non-Mexican songs.
  • Vikki Carr, a Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer known for her extensive and successful career. With over 60 best-selling recordings, Carr has won three Grammy Awards and received a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Her music spans various genres, including jazz, pop, and country, and she is celebrated for her role in fostering cultural connections between the U.S. and Latin America.

Fiesta Tecaliso, held during National Hispanic Heritage Month, is designed to immerse the audience in Hispanic culture through a night of vibrant music and celebration.
