Mission & History

The mission of the USMCEF is to provide activities that promote enhanced knowledge and understanding of the educational and cultural differences between the two countries to establish closer and stronger ties.

The United States-Mexico Cultural and Educational Foundation (USMCEF) was founded on April 4, 1996 in Washington, D.C. as a 501 (c) (3). non-profit organization. It serves as the educational arm of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

Since its inception, the Foundation has been involved in numerous activities such as the Buen Vecino Internship Program, Border Energy Forums, Future Leaders of Irving, Cinco de Mayo Celebration, Fiesta Tecaliso Concert, Day of the Dead Festival, art exhibits, theatre presentations, environmental initiatives, and the development and implementation of government grants, and in 2021 we hosted for the first time Olympic Day in Irving-Las Colinas, Texas.

The goals of the Foundation are:

To Educate individuals, businesses, and other lawful entities

To increase and enhance communication, cooperation, knowledge, and understanding between the United States and Mexico

To be an active participant in the development of closer relations between the United States and Mexico

To sponsor, develop, and implement a variety of activities designed to enrich understanding and cooperation between the United States and Mexico, including educational internships, exchange programs, forums, dialogues, conferences, seminars, training programs, cultural activities, exhibits, awards and scholarship programs.

To have and exercise all the powers conferred by law on nonprofit corporations.
